Very
often in electrical control systems the need for selecting
the load resistance/control resistance becomes important.
When pre-selection of this value has to be done on-line, an
adjustable resistor is used. Wattage ratings above 20 watts
are made available in this adjustable type by providing a
window on the insulation coating of the resistor. Adjustable
bands can then be run over the exposed portion of the winding
for an appropriate pre-selection of resistance value. These
resistors are also used as voltage dividers and as multi-tap
resistors and can be supplied along with mounting hardwares.
